Trishul (Sanskrit: त्रिशूल) is a Sanskrit word for trident ( three tipped spear) wielded by the Hindu God Shiva. Many other Gods and goddesses, including Durga, wield Trishul as one of their weapons. The three points of the trident have various meanings and significance, and, common to Hindu religion, many stories behind them. They are commonly said to represent various trinities—creation, maintenance and destruction.
